The engine that calculates entertainment residuals, rebuilt from scratch after both sources of truth for the union rules turned out to be wrong, so the money paid out is right.
Residuals are what actors, directors, writers and crew are owed once a film or show earns after release. The existing application computed them from two sources of truth for the union rules, and the two disagreed with each other, and were both wrong in places. Every payment run carried that error.
Scrapped the existing application and rebuilt the engine: it takes quarterly revenue per market, applies each union contract's break points and percentages, subtracts pension and health, and produces a separate statement per union. It back-fills every past quarter and writes adjustments for people who join a project late.
Handed over and running.
