Silverlight and XAML subtitle authoring with waveform sync and safe-area overlays, plus a command-line encoder over the Expression Encoder SDK and a job manager for the GPU farm, with error trapping the original never had.
The localisation team needed to author subtitles against video, and the GPU encoding farm behind them was dying inside the codec and returning nothing usable; an operator could not tell a finished encode from a crashed one.
The subtitle authoring tool: master subtitle list beside a language list, cloning a master set into a language that has none, video playback with audio waveform for syncing, and placement inside title-safe and action-safe overlays. Wrote and repaired the encoding pipeline: a command-line encoder driving the vendor SDK and a manager that queued jobs across GPU machines, wrapped in error trapping.
Both delivered and in use. The encoder was proved against seven deliberate failure cases before it went back on the farm.
