The Comp Specialists, LLC

A physician's treatment pathways existed only as Visio drawings. Built the business that sells them, and the serial-number scheme that made the intellectual property sellable at all.

The problem the business had

A physician had spent years drawing graphical treatment pathways, one flowchart per work-injury diagnosis keyed to ICD-9 codes, covering every step a doctor must take and document to stay compliant and actually get paid. The intellectual property existed only as Visio drawings and PDFs, with no way to sell it that did not also give it away.

What was done

A subscription site where a doctor's office or insurance payer registers, finds the pathway, enters patient details, and gets the merged pathway and matching medical-director letter, charged to the account per print. Every printed pathway carries a serial number tying it to the account, user, pathway and print run, so a third party can verify that a copy in circulation is genuine and unlicensed copies can be traced.

What it returned

Live and taking paying provider and payer accounts on schedule. I wrote the release policy the day customers arrived.
